Self Assessment Exams (SAE) are learning tools available as web-based (internet) tests.  They serve as practice tools to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a candidate who is interested in the certification and re-certification process in hospice and palliative care nursing.

The SAE can be used as one of several mechanisms to assist you in your studies. In addition to the detailed content outlines and reference lists located in the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN^®) Candidate Handbook, there are educational materials available for purchase through the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).

The five (5) SAE currently offered are:

Hospice and Palliative Advanced Practice Registered Nurse SAE (ARPN SAE)    $35

Hospice and Palliative Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse SAE (LP/VN SAE)   $30
